ESMD Space Grant Systems Engineering Paper Competition 2008
Dear TAMUK Space Cowboys:
As you know, your team project is funded by Texas Space Grant Consortium. What you may not know is that along with two other Design Challenge teams it is also funded, in part, through NASA's Exploration Systems Mission Directorate in an effort to establish systems engineering design teams throughout the U.S. Space Grant community. Design project topics from a range of NASA Center's are offered nationwide through the ESMD effort - - and these project offerings have been incorporated into the TSGC Design Challenge.
Your project "Lunar Dust Brush" was offered directly through ESMD and therefore qualifies as a "systems engineering" project.
NASA ESMD recently launched a paper competition directed solely for teams whose projects are eligible to receive ESMD funds. Because your "Lunar Dust Brush" project qualifies, your team is eligible to enter this competition, IF you are interested.
I have not reviewed all of the details for submission and evaluation carefully - - so you will have to do so yourselves to determine if these are requirements that you can meet. The competition does carry a nice prize package though [see below]; and based upon your excellent performance in the Design Challenge this semester - - in particular the Best Paper category - - I think your team could be a strong candidate. If you decide to "go for it" . . . let me know.
