department has outlined the following program outcomes: 1)
Apply fundamentals of mathematics, science,
and engineering to solve problems and enhance lifelong learning (satisfying
ABET Criterion 3 a & i). 2)
Enhance fundamental engineering skills
for encouraging a lifelong career in civil engineering (ABET Criterion 3 a,
e, & i). 3)
Offer hands-on experiences and improve
professional communication through discussion, oral presentations, or written
reports (ABET Criterion 3 a, b, e, g, i, & k). 4)
Apply engineering skills to the design
of materials, elements, or structures (ABET Criterion 3 a, c, e, i, & k). 5)
Emphasize ethical, social and economic
considerations while promoting professionalism and knowledge of contemporary
issues (ABET Criterion 3 f, h, & j). 6)
Provide opportunities to work in
multi-disciplinary teams or otherwise engage in critical decision making in
preparation for professional practice (ABET Criterion 3 a, c, d, e, i, & k). 7)
Develop knowledge of a specialization
within civil engineering (geotechnical, structural, transportation, or water
resources engineering as required by ABET Criterion 9 Curriculum and the ASCE
BOK). 8)
Understand the roles of project
management, construction, public policy, and business administration in
engineering practice and encourage leadership (the ASCE BOK). |
