Nintendo Wizard...
Another General Meeting was had on Wednesday. The topics covered were the Fall Carnival, the oncoming Car Wash, and the Engineering Social.
The Engineering Social will take place Thursday, October 12th. We will have a table set up with several officers behind it talking to freshmen about who we are and what we do. There will also be a couple of presentations. We encourage any member that happen to be in attendance to stop by to say hello, answer student's questions, and help out in any way they can.
Friday, October 13th will be the IEEE Car Wash this semester. We will be washing cars from 11 AM to 6 PM. A location has not been decided upon yet but that information will be posted here as soon as it is received.
The Fall Carnival will be on Wednesday, October 18th. IEEE will have a booth set up with a game called THE SHOCKER. This will be a test of reflexes that will be extremely shocking to the losers. This is still pending approval though, so stay tuned for more information.
We would like to congratulate our Treasurer Jacob Zamzow. He won the little Nintendo competition that we had at our last meeting. It was a hard fought battle between Jacob, who outlasted his opponents in the previous rounds of Mario Bros, Punch Out, and Tetris. We would also like to congratulate Juan Sauceda, who came in second after breezing through the competition when all of his opponents in the first round were eliminated.

Start of a Whole New Year...
Welcome to a whole new year at TAMUK and IEEE. It has been an exciting few weeks as the first and second IEEE meetings have taken place.
The first meeting was had last week and was a success. We had a good turnout. The topics covered were just an overview of IEEE and the committees for the year. Due to the sudden opening of the Computer Science Vice-President position, Marcus Cantu was elected to the position. Congratulations Marcus. The committees for this year are:
Fundraising: Headed by Vice-President James
Events: Headed by President Joey
Constitution: Headed by Webmaster Oscar
Membership: Headed by Treasurer Jacob
Robotics: Headed by Computer Science Vice-President Marcus
Multimedia: Headed by Webmaster Oscar
If you would like to take part in any of these committees then please contact the heads by email.
The second meeting was had yesterday, but will switch to one every other week from now on. To start off a hopefully ongoing trend of having guest speakers at the meetings, Sean Jurica, Matt Knippa, Jose Orta from Synergetic Design were on hand to talk about their company and what they do for them. Synergetic Design provides professional engineering, design, and consulting services to investor-owned utilities, municipalities, electric cooperatives, and public and private institutions. They are registered as a professional engineering firm in many states across the U.S. They employ over 400 people and are rapidly growing. We thank them for attending the meeting.
At today's meeting we also covered the robotics committee, fall carnival, a car wash fundraiser, a possible trip to Seguin, t-shirts, and the IEEE Regional Conference taking place in Arkansas in April. Look for more on these topics in the coming days.
Have a good year, everyone!
