The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Kingsville provides broad-based programs leading to B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering.

1) To prepare our graduates for careers as engineering professionals and/or for graduate studies. 2) To enable our graduates to pursue state-of-the-art solutions to engineering problems and to evaluate and embrace new technologies. 3) To instill in our graduates personal commitment to high ethical standards, sound business decisions, and engineering excellence.
 

The objective of the graduate electrical engineering program is "to produce graduates with broad and up-to-date knowledge, skills and judgment, prepared for professional careers in industry and/or further studies that emphasize advanced design, development and research methods."
 

Currently the faculty research interests include computer science, control systems, digital systems, microprocessors, signal processing, power electronics, electric drives, neural networks, and image processing. The faculty is dedicated to producing graduates properly trained to be successful in their chosen profession. An outstanding complement of equipment and laboratory facilities comparable to industry standards are also available for instruction and research in the above areas.
