The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is one of Eight departments within the College of Engineering. It offers an EAC/ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering as well as a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Enrollments in the department consist of approximately 150 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students.

Mechanical engineers are primarily involved in areas of importance to mankind, including economical conversion of energy for power,light, heat, cooling and transportation; machine design; and materials science. Industrial engineers are involved with devising economical methods of productivity - finding out to get the most out of something while putting the least in.The department maintains excellent teaching quality, promotes research and scholarly activities, and enhances learning and the learning environment.
