First
and foremost, as the Chair of the Industrial Technology
Department, I would like to welcome you to our Industrial
Technology Department's Home Page at Texas
A&M University-Kingsville. I know it can be
difficult deciding on what to major in and where to go to
college. A college degree is quite an investment in
time and resources, and you want to make sure you have
selected the right college for your future career
path. The Industrial Technology program at Texas
A&M University-Kingsville is unique and would probably
be considered one of the best Industrial Technology
programs for the following reasons:
Our
program is the only general Industrial Technology program
accredited by the National
Association of Industrial Technology south of Dallas,
Texas.
Starting
in the Fall of 2008, only 120 total semester hours will be
required to earn a Bachelors degree in Industrial
Technology (see our degree plan),
which is one of the lowest in the country. This
means that you can finish an Industrial Technology degree
in four years taking the normal load of 5 classes for most
semesters. Many of our majors finish in 3 1/2 years
or less by enrolling in the summers.
Our
program allows you to earn certificates
in six different areas depending upon your interests and
career goals.
Presently,
most of our graduates are employed in careers related to
Industrial Technology within three months of graduation
(see job placement). In addition, the department works with job placement agencies,
headhunters, and human resource managers of most
industries. We also maintain Internet job postings.
All
courses are offered at day and night so you don't have to
quit your job to get a degree. We even offer courses
at night during the summer so you can spend time with your
friends on the beach or continue working full time.
The
starting salaries of the department's graduates range from
$40,000 to well over $50,000 a year (careers
in IT).
All
Industrial Technology students minor in Business
Administration. Many prospective employers have
commented that this is a tremendous asset to individuals
seeking employment in industrial management-related
positions. In addition, our
degree program only requires two math and two science
courses.
Class
sizes are of an appropriate size and faculty
are available to assist students with any problems.
The
tuition at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is one of
the lowest in the country, and the University offers the
most financial aid
of any college in this region. Departmental
scholarships are also available.
In
addition to all these reasons, I personally make sure that
all Industrial Technology courses are offered frequently
enough so every Industrial Technology major can graduate
on time. All of our course offerings are printed one
year in advance, so you know exactly what Industrial
Technology courses will be offered in the upcoming
semesters.
We
understand you are a paying customer and that you should
be treated with the utmost respect. Our faculty and
staff will do everything in their power to make your
college experience as pleasurable as possible. If
you still aren't sure where to go to school, give me a
call, e-mail me, or stop by and I will be more than happy
to give you a tour of our building and entertain any
questions you may have.
