The Industrial Technology department supports an active student unit, Chapter S264 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). This professional society provides students with special opportunities to learn about modern industry and to gain experience in leadership roles.

Purpose of SME
Student Chapter S264

The purpose of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Student Chapter is to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of manufacturing.  This society will provide means and methods of applying such knowledge in practice and in education.

Mission

  1. Expand the leadership and mechanisms necessary to provide current information regarding the manufacturing enterprise in a continuing basis.

  2. Provide a dynamic and viable membership structure and membership base in accordance to the Constitution and Bylaws of manufacturing professionals.

  3. Provide leadership regarding the formal education process of manufacturing professionals.

  4. Provide recognition and support for professional growth of students obtaining degrees in manufacturing and related fields.

  5. Promote manufacturing as an essential contributor to the economic well being of nations.
