• February 19, 2008: Robert Riley, designer of the XR-3 Hybrid vehicle is coming to speak about it.
• January 2008: Citgo Refinery in Houston presented $5000 to the department to use for undergraduate scholarships.
• November 2007:  Dan Wright of MEIE Department to lead effort to build a hybrid vehicle.
• January 2007: Citgo Refinery in Corpus Christi presented $5000 to the department to use for undergraduate scholarships.
• July 2006 : Dr. Selahattin Ozcelik and other TAMUK faculty were awarded a $200,000 NSF "Supercomputing" grant.
• July 2006 : Dr. Selahattin Ozcelik was named Mechanical Engineering Graduate Coordinator, replacing Dr. Larry Peel.  Dr. Kai Jin was named Industrial Engineering Graduate Coordinator, replacing Dr. Robert McLauchlan
• May 2006 : Mechanical Engineering Department, TAMUK announces the sad demise of Dr. Robert A. McLauchlan
