ideally situated along the Susquehanna River at the foot of Bald Eagle
Mountain in North Central Pennsylvania, just a four-hour drive from New
York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. Penn College is
Pennsylvania's premier technical college and an affiliate of The
Pennsylvania State University. Approximately 6,000 students are enrolled
in Penn College's bachelor and associate degree and certificate majors,
which combine hands-on experience with theory and management education.

Duties and
Responsibilities:
The faculty will be
responsible for providing student instruction, educational leadership,
and the advisement of students in plumbing and heating courses within
the HVAC Technology cluster areas. Specifically, this person will:
-Instruct and evaluate
student performance in HVAC Technology/plumbing and heating courses.

-Provide coordination and
supervision for instructional field projects. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and
maintain accurate up-to-date records on students. (Essential)
-Maintain office hours
according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Write and update course
syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.

-Assume responsibility for
laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)
-Comply with College
safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies. (Essential)
-Engage in professional
development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)
-Contribute to the
betterment of the College through School/Departmental committee
participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to the
betterment of the College through College-wide committee
participation. (Marginal)
-Assist with the
development of grant proposals and with follow-up activities.

-Assist the Department
Head, HVAC, in developing instructional material lists, equipment
specifications, department budget requests, and assist in planning and
development of the master schedule. (Essential)
-Assist in providing tours
and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College and /or
department. (Essential)
-Assist the Dean, Assistant
Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of
outcomes assessment plans and documentation. (Essential)
-Maintain a high degree of
confidentiality with regard to any and all information as a direct or
indirect result of job responsibilities/job functions. (Essential)
-Perform other appropriate
job-related duties as assigned by the Dean. (Marginal)
Qualifications:
Minimum
-
Master's Degree in HVAC
Technology or a related discipline. ^Successful completion of NATE
certification or ICE exam certification.

Six (6) years of related
professional experience.
-
Competence in oral and
written communication skills.
-
Ability to provide quality
instruction.
-
Developed organizational
skills.
-
Interpersonal skills
necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff,
and other faculty.

Sensitivity to the
expectations of students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Possession of a valid
driver's license.

Finalists for teaching
positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) -
English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill
539/Act No. 76) ^Finalists for positions must present a sample lesson.
Desired
-
Earned Doctorate in
Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.

Licensure as a Professional
Engineer.

Formal coursework in
education.

Professional teaching
experience at college/university level.

Experience in HVAC computer
applications, including design software and control integration and
display.

Conditions of Employment:
The wages, hours, and terms
and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty,
counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and
certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the
negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and
the Penn College Education Association.
Federal law requires all

Salary and Academic Rank:
Commensurate with
credentials submitted as applied to College Faculty Salary System and
established criteria for faculty rank. As a point of reference, the
salary range for 17 new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines
throughout the College for the 2004/2005 academic year was $32,061 to
$60,761.
Starting Date:
Fall 2005 semester, which
starts August 18, 2005
